MS7123y Instrumental Music Level A
This one year-long elective course is designed for students who are in the early stages of playing an instrument or who would like to start learning an instrument as well as performing and being part of an ensemble. For this course, students can express their choice of study instrument. This request however is subject to approval based on various factors, with the final decision made by the teacher. During their middle school years, students who graduate from this course can progress to the Instrumental Music Level B course, Levels 4 & 5. The Instrumental Music Level A course follows a performance-based curriculum. During their study students develop skills on their instrument through the study of technical exercises and early level instrumental repertoire. Students enrolled in this course are required to participate in all concert performances as part of their performance assessment.
Students interested in taking the course need to make sure that they have their study instrument at home for practice purposes. Although the school can lend instruments to students, this is not always possible, and families need to check with the music teacher.
