MS7130 Music 7
Music 7 is a course that runs for one semester. The focus of this course is that students develop their understanding and connection with music. The practical nature of the course will teach learners instrumental skills, theory of music, and ensemble performance.
All students in Music 7 will be learning or extending on guitar skills through a series of exercises, techniques, and ensemble pieces. During the process of practicing guitars, students will also be working on ear training and theory of music. Students will learn to read music from traditional notation, tablature and fretboard diagrams.
Assessment of this course is ongoing as students are expected to perform on a regular basis either solo or as part of the ensemble.
The plethora of transferable skills taught during this course is also worth mentioning. Students learn to respect other, to persevere and be patient, to slow down their pace, to work on their fine motor skills, to adapt, to communicate, and to get accustomed to high pressure situations of performance whilst building their confidence.
By the end of this course students may decide that they like to continue playing music either at home or by opting for a music elective course the following year.
