Lower Camp

LOWER CAMP is a four week summer enrichment program designed for students entering kindergarten through entering 4th grade in the fall of 2022.  Campers, in age appropriate groups, are led by certified elementary school teachers, through project based learning, challenges and activities around our camp theme.  Lower Camp always has a theme that guides activities and instructions. In 2023 our theme is "Under the Sea"! Campers learned about the different aspects of our planet and the environment.

Upper Camp

UPPER CAMP is a four week summer enrichment program for students entering 5th through 9th grades in the fall of 2023.  In Upper Camp, campers will create their own schedules by choosing from a vast amount of electives to design their own camp program.  SPACE's Upper Camp has over 50 electives for students to choose from including art studios, performing arts, instrumental and music lessons, athletics, STEM activities and language arts.

Is camp fun?

Campers love SPACE!  Many of our campers have been coming for years!

Do you have to live in Newton to attend S.P.A.C.E.?

While SPACE is run through the Newton Public Schools it is open to any student in the surrounding area?

What is our staff like?

Our staff members are caring, fun, and highly trained.  There are many more counselors and additional support staff as well.

Can the campers swim?

Upper Camp campers can choose to swim at the Gath Pool daily. Our Kindergarten classes swim in the wading pool at the Gath Pool.

What time is lunch?

Lunch is at 1:00pm for campers who are part of our full day program.

Is Lunch provided?

Lunch is not provided.  Campers in the Upper Camp program, however,  can buy drinks and snacks.

What happens if my child’s lunch needs to be cold?

All of our campers’ lunches are kept in the refrigerator until it is time for lunch, so everything can be kept cold throughout the morning.

Do you have a nurse?

Yes, we have a nurse on site at all times.

Can students with disabilities attend S.P.A.C.E?

Yes, SPACE is a fully inclusive camp.  We have a neighborhood inclusion program through the Newton Public Schools, and we will always work with families to help accommodate campers and their individual needs.

Do you offer scholarships?

SPACE has a tuition assistance program where we give financial assistance to families in need to reduce the cost of the program.
