Dear Readers,
Welcome to the website that we created where it includes all of the interesting and hard work we've completed throughout this academic year. We hope you find the content useful and give you more insight into the world of journalism. In addition, we would like to thank Mr. Charles McKinney for being our journalism teacher and giving us different yet unique journalistic lessons. Thanks to him, we were able to understand the introduction to journalism.
When we first took Journalism, we thought that its only function was writing and spreading news. However, after taking the class, we were introduced to the profound meaning of journalism. In fact, journalism has a great history that includes old journalists in the early years trying to get their voices to be heard, an idea to be spread, to help the voiceless and weak people get their own rights, etc. With that being said, journalism's impact is more than we can ever describe.
Journalists have risked and sacrificed their lives to be loyal to their jobs and to reach a particular goal. This particularly created interest in all of our mindsets on the writing technique of journalism and why it is such a risky profession.
Lastly, we want to thank you Mr. Charles McKinney, again, for your hard work with us in helping us learn all the journalistic concepts well, and we thank you for making this year unique due to your subject.

ABS Celebrates Kuwait National Day
ABS Celebrates Kuwait National Day
On the 20th of February, ABS has dedicated an entire day to celebrate the national day of Kuwait. There were many people that attended, from students to teachers, parents and even friends. A variety of different activities were available for one to revel in! Some activities that were mostly occupied by the younger kids were, the bouncy house, the pony ride and coloring activities, too. Every student and teacher impatiently waits for this time of year to enjoy oneself. This celebration happens once a year, and it's unlucky if one happens to miss it.

Students Real-World Skills
In today's journalism class, students are working on their interview questions assignment. The students were assigned to create question they seek to find their answers. They interviewed parents, family members, friends and teachers. The assignment was a tremendous amount of fun to both the host and the interviewer. Examples of the questions asked were: 'What was your experience staying in Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion' which is an action-based interview. Another type is a personality story such as 'How did you receive your degree through the hardships you've faced'?

The Power of Media
To further understand the major role the media plays in both the old and current days, Mr. Charles gave us an assignment. The task we were given was to merely answer one question: "Do you think the media creates reality or does it talk about what's going on?" After much perusing, us, readers came to the realization that the media not only talks about what's going on, but it also creates reality.

Today, we learned about the different sources of news and realized how important media is. As Malcolm X once said, "Media is powerful." The media has an ongoing, deep effect on our perception of reality. It shapes the beliefs and the reality that people accept. In that class, Mr. Charles went on to explain that the media majorly contributed to affecting the readers' perception of reality since it is often the only and main source of that reality.
