At St Machar Academy we strive to offer a range of wider achievement opportunities outwith the formal curriculum. This programme lists the many opportunities to join teams, clubs and groups at lunchtimes and after school.
If you'd like to take part in any of the activities on offer, just go along at the listed time and place, or if you'd like some more information speak to the listed activity leader.
Active Girls
Free choice opportunity for all girls in all year groups to come along and participate in being active.
Badminton
Free play Badminton opportunity for all year groups. If you want to try a new sport or have played before, you are more than welcome to come along!
Basketball
Free play basketball opportunity for all year groups. Additional opportunity to play for the school team (S4 and above)
Boccia
Boccia inspired mini games. Competitive games of Boccia. If you would like to try a new sport or have played before, you are welcome to come along!
Boxing
An opportunity to learn and develop boxing skills,
Cheerleading
Cheerleading is a sport that combines stunting, tumbling and dance! You'll need to work with others to form a stunt group and learn lots of new skills.
Chess
Place where individuals can play games of chess. Beginners welcome and introduction to rules and game will be provided.
Drum Club
A place for anyone interested in learning more about playing drum kit, from beginners to pros.

Eco Committee
In eco-club we will look at a variety of themes linked to the environment e.g. climate change and what we can do individually, as a community and a school to improve.

Girls: Opportunity for girls in S1-3 to join the St Machar Girls football team and compete against other schools.
S1: Bi-weekly football training for the school team. Bi-weekly football training due to Mr Sangster's need to train the S2 Football Team every second Wednesday also.

PRIDE Group
Everyone is welcome to come along and discuss all things LGBT+. We have hosted many events in school over the last few years to raise money and awareness. It’s a great place to make new friends too!
Table Tennis
Free play Table Tennis Opportunity. New or old to the sport you are more than welcome to come along!
Theatre Club
Theatre Club is a creative space to explore acting, storytelling and performance. Through games, improvisations, rehearsals and performance; members will build confidence, teamwork and stage skills while having fun! - with two performances each year to share work with an audience.
Volleyball
Lunchtime: Free play Volleyball opportunity for all year groups. Opportunity for relaxed Volleyball activity out with afterschool sessions.
After school: School Volleyball Club.
Wrestling Foundations
Wrestling Foundations is a club where you can practice the basic skills necessary to train and compete in freestyle wrestling. We practice through games, activities, and exercises. Limited spots due to mat space. NOTE: Equipment required: P.E. kit.
There will be additional opportunities throughout the session – these will be advertised on the year group Google Classrooms.
