Our first improvement plan idea is to give more excitement to the every day lessons and subjects that are taught in the P1-3's classrooms.
Our thoughts are to give a class a 30 minute slot each week on a year group rota so that everyone is given a chance to learn in a more active and pupil lead environment. We will use the outside space, gym hall and the classroom to play educational games to help with things like literacy and maths so that P1-P3's can understand that all learning can be fun.
To help us with our first improvement plan we would like to see different strategies at Ferryhill School to see how PI-P3 pupils learn and how the teachers teach different subjects. We will ask the teachers and pupils in the classes different questions to find out more about their school and how they teach/learn in their classes. We will take this information and use it to inspire us to lead learning activities in our own school.
The pupils taking part enjoyed the lessons and worked really to impress the team leaders. The groups were really engaged and gave great answers. We are happy with the ideas we came up with and are happy with how the tasks went. The younger classes tested our resilience skills! We all used team work skills throughout, we supported others, we listened to other peoples ideas, we had to make lots of decisions and had to use lots of questioning and presenting skills. We also had to really focus on what we were planning and doing. It was really important that we motivated others to do their best too! Finally, we helped all the pupils in the small groups be motivated.
