Personal Development Award - Level 5

Course Overview

The Personal Development Award is one of the Wider Achievement Awards offered by SQA to recognise personal developments and achievements beyond academic qualifications and we look to gather this and the Leadership Award within the PDA option on the choice options. Within these courses the main area of study is developing your leadership and personal development.

The Personal Development course is divided into 4 compulsory units:

• Self in Community

• Self and Work

• Practical Abilities

• Self-Awareness

The aims of the course are to:

• develop knowledge of self and own development needs through self-evaluation and review

• develop self-reliance, self-esteem and confidence through supported and independent learning 

• develop practical abilities develop task management and interpersonal skills

• have an opportunity to maximise own potential demonstrate and recognise achievement

Assessment

The Course is a pass/fail and a logbook along with a 1000 word assignment, is completed throughout the year. There is a practical element in which learners must lead and evaluate on an event to pass the course. The coursework is internally assessed.
