VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering is not only a source of the ‘feel good factor’ because you are giving your time to a worthy cause. It is also:

• a great way to gain practical experience and learn practical skills (which can be extremely beneficial to your CV)

• involves a competitive application process which provides you with experience of completing an application form, seeking references and in some cases having an interview

• helps you stand out from the crowd which can make you more desirable to prospective employers.

Saltire Award

The Saltire Award celebrates and recognises the commitment, contribution and achievements of young volunteers in Scotland. It is recognised by employers and further/higher education institutions which means it can also help with future pathways.
