National 4 Maths

Course Overview

This course is suitable for pupils who have attained CfE third-level Maths. Passing National 4 Maths will increase your career opportunities by helping you gain a place on a college course, apprenticeship or for getting a job.

A pass at N4 Maths will develop the numerical and algebraic skills required for National 5 Maths or National 5 Applications of Maths courses.

Course Contents

There are 3 compulsory units.

1. Expressions and Formulae

2. Relationships

3. Numeracy

There is also an end-of-course Added Value Unit which includes two assessments, one with a calculator, and one without.

Assessment

All assessments are internally assessed.

Progression

Learners who perform well at National 5 Applications of Maths (grade A or B) may progress to Higher Applications of Maths.
