The course allows you to develop and demonstrate a broad and comprehensive range of complex movement and performance skills in challenging contexts. You will also analyse a performance, understand what is required to develop it, and apply this knowledge to your own performance.
You will evaluate and analyse their personal performance and implement approaches to address factors that impact on that performance. You will evaluate your choice of methods and approaches used to develop performance. You will justify decisions made and relate these to future development needs.
You will establish an improved level of performance and a greater understanding in activities of your choice and may, at times, work out with the direct supervision of the class teacher in order to have the opportunity to achieve this.
For the theoretical element of the course 2 periods of theory a week will be undertaken to develop understanding of the Cycle of Analysis which is based around the identification of areas of development within personal performance and monitoring and evaluating approaches to allow improvements in performance to occur.
The course assessment has two components each with a 50% weighting:
Practical Performance - Two activities will be assessed out of 30 marks each. Internally assessed.
Written Exam - 2hr 30 mins written exam worth 50 marks.
