Confucius Institute
This term we have been lucky enough to secure some funding from the Confucius Institute to produce some Chinese inspired art projects. Our junior pupils have been having a great time working with clay, lino and various other materials, and learning about how Chinese culture can influence our art.
S1
Our S1 pupils are designing logos for Chinese restaurants, based on the Chinese Zodiac. They have learned about how the Chinese Zodiac works, what animal is assigned to their year of birth (most are rabbits!) and which animals are considered lucky or unlucky!

S2
Our S2 pupils are working through various different projects! This class is producing lino prints based on one of the animals from the Chinese Zodiac.

This class is producing lanterns based on the 'Year of the Dragon', using cut paper and 3D modelling skills.
When they finished their lanterns, they were displayed in the foyer of the school!
This class is producing clay models of dragon eyes, based on the 'Year of the Dragon'.Â

S3
Some S3 pupils produced dip pen and ink studies of Chinese bonsai trees. They then pushed their skills further and incorporated various painting techniques before applying the ink. See below for some of their brilliant outcomes!
