Associated Schools Group

Oldmachar Academy is proud to work closely with its five associated primary schools as part of our Associate Schools Group. Each year, we welcome Primary 7 pupils from Danestone Primary School, Forehill Primary School, Glashieburn Primary School, Greenbrae Primary School, and Middleton Park School.

These strong partnerships help us ensure a smooth and supportive transition for pupils as they move into secondary education, and we value the close relationships we’ve built with each school community.

Primary – Secondary Links

At Oldmachar Academy, we work closely with our five associated primary schools—Danestone, Forehill, Glashieburn, Greenbrae, and Middleton Park—to ensure a smooth and supportive transition for pupils moving into secondary school.

Our transition programme begins early, with curricular links and visits to the Academy where P7 pupils access specialist resources such as science labs and music rooms. Pupils also spend two full days at the Academy in June, following a sample timetable and getting to know their new environment, supported by senior pupil buddies.

We host a dedicated information evening for P7 parents and carers, including presentations, school tours, and opportunities to hear directly from current pupils and staff.

For pupils who may need additional support, tailored transition plans are created in collaboration with families and partner agencies. Our Support for Learning team maintains close links with primary staff to ensure all pupils’ needs are understood and met before starting S1.
