Friday marked the final handover of our building to the contractors. Everyone has worked incredibly hard to pack up and move to our new temporary site at Walker Road. We made sure to take lots of photographs of the empty building for our memories and to help us keep alive the building that means so much to so many people. Here are just a few we took on our final day. We found some amazing surprises left behind whiteboards including a 20 year old handwriting lesson!
Keep a look out for photographs of our new home towards the end of the summer holidays.

A very special final afternoon at Ferryhill saw the whole school gathering around the well for a final sing song.
We were treated to performances from the P2 choir, the P3 choir, P4 Big Sing, a song for Mr Gibson and a whole school rendition of 'Roar' - a firm assembly favourite.
When we return to Ferryhill, the well will no longer be there, to make a larger learning area on the top floor, so we felt it was important to make the most of this final opportunity.
WB 30.06.25
On Friday, we had our first site visit to see the inside of our new nursery. Although it is not quite finished yet, we were absolutely blown away by what we saw. The new setting is incredible! We can't wait to open the doors to learners in August.

The children of P5 having been working very hard this Summer term to design and develop a fair to help promote road safety to our Ferryhill pupils. This week all that hard work came to a head as they invited each class to visit the P5 classrooms to partake in a very successful and educational fair. Everything that featured in the fair was developed entirely by P5 and they took the lead on how the day itself was run. The children created road safety storybooks, wrote and filmed movies, used their technology skills to create Lego animations, designed board games and put on two mini drama performances, all to promote being safe on and around our roads.
WB 23.06.25

A huge thank you to Ferryhill Fundraising Committee who bought Kapla kits for every class. Each class received their very own set during the House Team organised construction week.
Kapla is a construction game in which the components are all exactly the same. The planks, made of natural pine from 100% renewable forests, require no fixing system: they are simply piled one on top of the other and hold each other in place.
We have been so impressed by the creations the children have built together! Lots of learning, collaboration and future engineers and architects!
WB 12.05.25
A photo gallery filled with brilliant feats of engineering from Primary 7. Kapla is very popular in P7.
WB 12.05.25
A super proud learner, Yurii from P5K, wanted to share his marvellous creation on the website. I think you can see why!

P2D had an action packed morning outside exploring the wonderful world of weather! They stepped into their very own rainforest, using umbrellas and spray bottles to create gentle canopy drizzle- then turned up the excitement with a hose powered downpour! They even collected and measured rain like real scientists. Using wind socks and home made wind vines they explored the power of the wind and made their own gusts by fanning clipboards. WIth compasses in hand, they tracked which direction the wind was blowing, and used thermometers to find the hottest and coolest spots in our playground. Through all the fun, they discovered how weather shapes the rainforest and how the amazing animals and plants have adapted to survive. What a great day of learning through play and discovery!
WB 05.05.25
P1/2R took their learning outside and let their imaginations soar! Lying on their backs under the big open sky, they watched the clouds drift and dance above. They spotted animals, shapes, characters and all sorts of magical things hiding in the clouds! Then they brought their ideas to life by painting their cloud creations onto a giant roll of sky blue paper. The clouds kept moving and changing so their imaginations had to keep up- it made painting in the moment extra exciting! What a wonderful creative day they had with the living sky as their inspiration!
WB 05.05.25
The nursery children who will be transitioning to school after the summer break have been working on a project with P1PM and P1C. This week we read the second chapter of the NHS Grow Well Choices story about the farm animals going to the Highland Games.

With generous sponsorships from our nursery families we made an incredible £350. This will be used to plan a special outing with the children to celebrate the end of the school year later in the term.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, we really appreciate the support and generosity.
WB 28.04.25
Each week, every class takes part in pupil voice groups at Ferryhill. Our groups are Feedback, Eco, Junior Road Safety Officers, Health, Rights Respecting Reading, Digital and Visible Learning. The pupils decide what they would like to learn about and lead improvements in these areas.
The pupils then share their learning and improvements they have made at assembly.
This week P6R presented what they have achieved in their 'Feedback' group.
WB 21.04.25
The House Captains decided that we needed to encourage some creativity into our learning. What started originally as 'Creativity Week' has grown arms and legs and become something more like 'Creativity WEEKS'
This week sees all classes turning their hands to art. The House Captains wanted our pupils to have the opportunity to show their own ideas, rather than being guided by a teacher lesson. The teachers provided the resources, but gave no other instructions.
Take a look at our photo gallery where you can see Primary 4C getting stuck in to their arty adventures.
Look forward to seeing 'Construction Week', 'Music Week', 'Outdoor Week' and 'Creativity Week'

Primary 1 - 4 pupils were treated to a fabulous magic show on Wednesday. Magic Alan amazed us with his mind blowing tricks, all while teaching us all about road safety.
"I learned that before you cross the road, you must stop and look both ways. I like when he pretended that I touched his hand with the magic wand and it hurt him but I didn't even touch him!"
Kennedy (The Magician's Assistant) P1PM
"The four words you need to think about when crossing the road are stop, look, listen and think. Our favourite part of the show was when the lollipop man was speaking."
Maya and Lucia - P2G
"I learned that you stop, look, listen and think when crossing the road. Green means go, red means stop."
Jamin P3M
"I liked to talking picture, it was a bit scary! I liked the invisible floating ball."
Daniyal and Jia-Yune P3M
"I didn't know that you shouldn't cross the road when the green light is flashing. Magic Alan taught me that. My favourite part was when he ate the light then it came out of his bottom!"

Some of the nursery children had a wonder down to check on the progress of our new build, and what a surprise we got! We were very excited to see the steel works completed and the timber walls being built. The children spotted the spaces in the timber where the new windows will be placed. After talking to one of the builders on the site, we discovered that they are putting up scaffolding around the building to start adding the roof over the next few weeks!
'There are real walls' - Rosie
'The holes for the windows are big and small' - Brian
'The builders are covering the walls in red to protect it' - Patrick
Week Beginning 24.03.25
P3 - 7 children had a fantastic morning welcoming some mystery guests into Ferryhill. The children had to ask our visitors questions to try and work out what their job is. They were able to guess some but not others! The visitors came back into the hall with their uniforms or visuals to gasps and cheers from the pupils. A huge thank you to Joshua (Artist), Shaun (Construction Worker - Joiner), Georgina (Civil Engineer), Ross (Fire Fighter) and Heidi (Fire Fighter) for giving up their time to join us and tell us all about their roles. A big thank you to Chris, Katie and Scott who helped organise the event, we couldn't have done it without you.
I have included some of the digital art created by Joshua as the pupils and staff were blown away by his incredible talent.
Look at our fantastic new puppets that have been introduced into the Primary 1 classrooms to support story telling. As you can see, the children are having an amazing time playing with the puppets in a variety of ways.
The nursery children were very excited to have a visit from the fire-fighters this week. We had the opportunity to learn about all the different parts of the fire-engine and even got to sit inside. After learning about how the fire-fighters help us, we got to use the water hose in the playground!
Blanka, Karo and Vitalina had a great day participating in the Enterprising Maths Challenge 2025, run by the University of Aberdeen.
They took part in lots of team challenges and presented their poster all about codes and ciphers. The poster was made collaboratively after lots of research and preparation.
We are very proud of their efforts and how well they represented Ferryhill School.
All Primary 1 and 2 pupils were lucky enough to go to the cinema on Wednesday to see Harold and the Purple Crayon. They really enjoyed the trip and the teachers all commented on how well all of the children represented Ferryhill out in the community. Some of our children had never been to the cinema before, so a wonderful first time experience to share with their friends!
In the first of a series of science workshops with Hayley from NESCOL, P7 have been learning about static electricity and the attraction between negatively charged electrons and positively charged protons.
We almost have a 'blink and you miss it' level of progress on our new nursery build and the development of our outdoor learning spaces. Next week, we will see the steel works beginning, Morrison have advised that the steel work will take around 3 days then they will begin work on timber framing.
If you look on the concrete floor you can see blue lines painted, demonstrating where different rooms will be.
The digger (some children will correct me to say excavator) in the picture is working on our new multi-use games area.
A huge thank you to everyone who visited the Book Fayre at School last week, and purchased some goodies. The sales from the event were £2,095 and from this we were able to buy books worth £1,257. Amazing contribution to our reading libraries across school.
We are very proud of the children who took part in the Cross Country event on Friday 14th March. Some of the children from P5-7 represented Ferryhill as they took part with other schools from across Aberdeen. The children showed enthusiasm as they raced, demonstrating their resilience and stamina. Look at all those happy faces proud of their achievements. Well done!
Some of the nursery children joined P1PM to continue our learning from last weeks Tradition Tale, Jack and the Beanstalk. This week we made our very own beanstalks using marshmallows and spaghetti. We had to work together in our teams to share ideas and make sure our beanstalk could stand tall. It was challenging work and tricky to resist eating the marshmallows!
In P6S we have been learning all about area during numeracy. The children took part in practical experiences as they developed their understanding of area, showing creativity through the use of lego and digital technology.
The P7 children hosted a very successful toy and book sale on Wednesday 10th March. The classes throughout the school were excited as they visited the sale and the P7's were great negotiators as they managed to sell all the donations they had received! They made an incredible £400 that will be put towards their activities week planned for next term. Well done P7!
Ferryhill School celebrated World Book Day on Thursday. Classes took part in reading activities in their classrooms, we had a 'Drop Everything and Read' session and all of our learners (and parents) enjoyed exploring the Book Fair. We chose to dress in our comfy and cosy pyjamas and take a teddy to school so that we could really relax and curl up with a book!
Some of the children from nursery joined P1C and P1PM as part of our Bygone World learning. We listened to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, before taking part in experiments in small teams. The children worked together to create a design for their golden egg to help protect it when it fell from the beanstalk. All of our creations were successful in keeping the egg whole!
P6S and P3GR took to the playground on World Book Day to have some fun reading with a buddy. A lovely day to take advantage of the sun, get outside and read with a new friend.
Taline made incredible pin badges for each of the Wednesday Book Club members. We are all extremely proud to wear them. Thank you so much Taline. You are amazing!
P5M have been learning how to work with video editing software to capture, create and edit films with text, sound and video. This week we focused on stop motion, where we created people and objects out of clay and captured images to turn into a stop motion video. We learned about frames in movies and the importance of having an unchanging field of view for the effect to work.
Primary 6 took the chance to escape the classroom and learn in a different environment. They took to the playground to enjoy the sun and learn about circles. As you can see from our photo gallery, they were learning how to draw, measure and calculate the radius and diameter of circles.
Primary 5 are lucky to have the opportunity to take part in a 5 week long STEM project run by Aberdeen Football Club Community Trust. Our first session was all about exploring the Sphero Bolts. Primary 5 are excited for the remaining sessions which include coding, putting their STEM skills to the test and sports science.
Primary 7 had a an amazing experience at the recent 'ForSEA Your Future' event as part of the Subsea Expo at P&J Live. ForSEA Your Future is run to educate and inspire school pupils about innovations and technology in the blue economy. They also bring to life careers in the underwater industry. ForSEA Your Future aim to provide insights into the opportunities offered by the underwater industry and wider energy sector.
Primary 5K have had a fantastic time learning about The Battle of Bannockburn as part of their Bygone World topic. As part of their learning, they were able to try on outfits and props, recreating (safely!) one of the scenes from the battle. Ask your child more details of what they have been learning about in class.
World Thinking Day is an international holiday that brings together many aspects of human life: friendship, support, mutual understanding, equality, and more. It originally focused on girls and women in our society and was created by World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, but has a broader meaning today. It is annually enjoyed on February 22nd.
As part of this we invited Ferryhill pupils who are part of any uniformed clubs such as Brownies, Beavers, Cadets etc to come to school in their clubs uniform on Friday. Take a look at the photo gallery to see the wide range of uniforms we saw in school today.
P2G and P7L have teamed up to become digital buddies. They worked together to learn about online safety, making fantastic posters to share what they learned with others. It is always interesting to see the dynamics when learners of a different age and stage work together, but as you can see from the posters they produced, it was definitely a successful collaboration.
P3M and P3GR have had a fantastic time showing off their Scottish Country Dancing skills. They have learned the Gay Gordons, Candanian Barn Dance and the Dashing White Sergeant. Hopefully they will be able to share their skills at the upcoming PTA Ceilidh!
Ferryhill School welcomed Councillor Greig, Councillor Mennie, Councillor Kusznir, Allister McKechnie from Mackie Ramsay Taylor and Mike Bruce from Morrison Construction, to mark the beginning of the construction phase of our new nursery. They were expertly guided by Brian, Rosie and Henley from our nursery! We are looking forward to watching each stage of the construction process. The progress in one day alone was impressive.
A very exciting day for our first 'Meta Builders' visit to the nursery building site today. Two children from each class, four nursery children and two representatives from the Newspaper Club, were invited by Morrison into the site for a closer look. The children (chosen at random by a special spinning wheel) dressed in hard hats and hi-vis vests then were able to ask questions, watch some impressive machinery in action and closely inspect some of the wonderful treasures that have been found so far. We can't wait for our next site visit. I know the children are excited to see the progress and report back to their classes. I wonder who the magic wheel will choose next?
Inspired by Lydia's visit to the nursery building site, P2G showed us that Morrison and Mackie Ramsay Taylor aren't the only builders and architects on site. They may even headhunt some of our creative bunch! Primary 2G were tasked with using resources from their classroom to design or build our new nursery. As you can see from our photo gallery, some children chose to draw, use digital technology, blocks, cubes, tables and blankets. They were very proud of their work and all wanted their photographs added to the website.
P1PM made love bugs this week to celebrate Valentine’s Day. They developed their fine motor skills and showed individuality and creativity to choose their finishing touches for their love bug!
Dear Parents/Carers,
Following our November update regarding Phase 1 of the Ferryhill School Suitability Improvement Project, we’d like to provide you with further details about what to expect in the coming months.
Phase 1: Standalone Nursery
• The site preparation and enabling works are now complete.
• Construction of the standalone nursery is set to begin in early February, with completion still planned for Summer 2025.
Main School Refurbishment and Extension
• Plans for the main school refurbishment and extension are being finalised.
• A planning application will be submitted in the coming weeks.
• The project team are planning to host drop-in sessions for parents/carers to view the proposals and ask any questions. Dates for these sessions will be shared soon.
Decant to Walker Road School
We understand there have been many questions about the temporary relocation of Ferryhill pupils to Walker Road School during the refurbishment. To help clarify:
• Pupils will be transported by bus during the decant period, with logistics and timings to be shared once finalised.
• Walker Road School is currently vacant. During the decant, only Ferryhill pupils and staff will attend this school, and it will operate as “Ferryhill School at Walker Road.”
• Nursery pupils will not be decanted to Walker Road School. The standalone nursery is planned to be ready and operational for the start of term in August 2025, so nursery pupils and nursery staff will remain on the Ferryhill site, but within the new building.
• Both sites will be managed as they are now and will be overseen by the Head Teacher and Deputes.
We hope this update provides some clarity and reassurance. Please be assured that we are committed to minimising disruption and keeping you informed every step of the way. We will be in touch soon with dates inviting you to the drop-in sessions, to view the proposals for our school and will share dates soon.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
To mark the final week of our RGU students helping with our learning, we thought you would enjoy these fantastic photographs of the children out in the playground with Katie, Sam and Adam.
Some of the nursery children joined the P1 classes this week as part of our Bygone World learning. We were learning all about toys from the past and how they compare to the toys we have now. The children had an exciting opportunity to explore a range of toys from the past discovering how they worked. Thank you P1 for including the nursery in your fabulous learning!
Huge congratulations to Hashim from Primary 5. He is our chess champion! Hashim won 5 out of 6 points at the NEJCA finals held at Hazlehead Primary School. A tense 3 way draw ended in victory for our hero Hashim. We are very proud of you Hashim, you continue to be such a fantastic representative for our school.
We are delighted to announce that Miss Lyndsay Hay was recently appointed as our new School Administrator following recent interviews. Miss Hay is already a familiar face to many families as she was our School Support Assistant previously.
We want to feature her on our website, not only to give her a warm Ferryhill welcome, but also to help put a face to the name for your phone calls, Groupcalls and emails.
Primary 7MW spent the morning at Duthie Park with one of their fantastic Park Rangers. He took them around the park teaching them about all of the fascinating historical features. They really enjoyed exploring and learning new things about our favourite park. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic open green space with such a rich history within our community.
P4C were learning about Chinese New Year last week. The pupils in the class had some prior knowledge of the celebration but we were privileged to have Benedict, Joanne and Ellie help lead the learning. They were able to share additional information about the Chinese festival using their own personal experiences. Benedict shared about the traditional food, moon cake and Joanne shared how she had received a red envelope which had some money in it. Ellie’s family are originally from Vietnam and she had some different traditions. We learned how the festival runs for 15 days and changes dates each year as it follows the cycle of the moon!
We watched a video which explained how the zodiac animals were chosen and researched what different animals we were! We then watched some instructional how to draw videos and created some zodiac animals images.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the staff at Many Mart for our Fortune Cookies which we took home and enjoyed!
Primary 7MW took the opportunity to get outdoors and get creative. They sketched the school and used a variety of resources to develop their masterpieces. We are pleased they took the chance to draw our building in its current state before all of the big changes start happening, I'm sure we'll be able to look back at their art in a couple of years and spot the differences. Take a look at the photo gallery to see their masterpieces.
A little house points update to share with you all. The house captains have collected all the house points this week and have shared this with the school.
We can't believe the results! Drum are in the lead by one point! I wonder if Fraser can knock them off of the top spot next week? Third and fourth place are super close too, with only eight points difference.
Every January, all pupils at Ferryhill take part in a Scots poetry competition to celebrate the life and legacy of Scotland's National Bard, Robbie Burns. The children have worked hard at home and at school rehearsing their poems and performances. Their hard work certainly paid off and the judges were blown away by the performances from every class (Even if Mrs Temple needed some words translated at times!) She was 'fair tricket' to learn about Tam O'Shanter, oxters and how nae tae be crabbit when she didn't understand the braw poems.
The winners from P1-7 performed in front of a huge audience at assembly, we were also lucky to be entertained by nursery too! Fit rare!
Hana from Primary 6 demonstrated two of our school values, by being caring and determined, when she donated her long locks to the Princess Trust.
"I learned about the Princess Trust in Primary 4. I wanted to grow my hair so that I could help. I've been growing it for nearly two years and yesterday got my hair cut, ready for it to be donated to the Princess Trust. It will now be made into a wig for someone by the Princess Trust."
We are so proud of you Hana, what a kind thing to do!
Our new craft club is a huge success! An integral part of the Ferryhill School community, Karen Helling, offered to set up a lunch time craft club with some help of some wonderful pupil leaders. They meet on a Thursday afternoon and have so far made some beautiful creations. Our pupil leaders have really enjoyed playing an important role in the club's success.
' I really like craft club'- Jamin P3
' We were helping the younger children to glue their wood house models to make a village.' Amapola P5
As one child thanked Karen for such a fun lunchtime, Karen thanked the children for making her so happy.
We can't wait to see more fantastic crafty creations from the club!
Primary 4 have been having a fantastic time taking part in their weekly swimming lessons this term.
"I already go swimming 3 times a week but I really enjoy getting to go swimming with my school friends." - Reuben P4
"I love to go swimming. It is my second favourite sport!" - Justin P4
"I've been practising swimming in the deep bit of the big pool. I'm proud of myself for trying my best in the lessons." - Evie P4
"I already do swimming lessons outside of school, I'm level 3. The swimming lessons at school help my other swimming lessons." - Jack P4
We have been very lucky to have some RGU students join us to help with our playful learning. The students have helped out in several classes and outside in the playground at lunchtime. You can see them helping Mr Gibson and P2D take part in a super fun scooter session and them leading a lunchtime session in the playground. in the photo gallery.
Meet our new friends! We received our wonderful new friends from "Knit-for-Nowt" which is a charitable service based in Yorkshire. They donate worry dolls and puppets to help children's wellbeing. They have been very well received at Ferryhill, and our pupils are delighted to have them in their classes. Find out more information about the project here. Take a look at the Worry Monster Poem that we have been enjoying in class.
P7 welcomed GREC, the Grampian Regional Equality Council, to school on Monday 27th for a workshop held in the gym hall. Pupils took part in activities related to equality and cultural awareness. If you want to learn more about GREC, you can visit their website at grec.co.uk/
Primary 1 had a fantastic afternoon celebrating Burns Day. They tried their hand at Scottish Country Dancing then came back to the infant hall to meet Mr Gibson who addressed the haggis! They then had a taste of haggis, neeps and tatties. As you can see from our photo gallery, most children loved the experience whilst others weren't so sure! A big thank you to all of our super parent helpers, we really appreciate your help and support.
A huge congratulations to Mr Harry Roberts - James who is the preferred candidate from our recent class teacher interviews. We are delighted to welcome Mr Roberts-James as a permanent member of staff. He has been a fantastic addition to our team! Mr Roberts- James will continue to teach P5K for the rest of the school year.
Some of the nursery children went for a visit to the Central Library. They had the opportunity to listen to some Scottish stories and sang Scottish songs with the librarian, reinforcing our current learning from nursery. We love these links with our local community and enjoy getting out and about!
P2D have been having a fantastic time in infant hall. Mrs Duffus included some Scottish themed resources into infant hall this week and the children have really enjoyed performing their Scots poems and dances. P2D have also been demonstrating their building and craft skills. Take a look at our pictures to see what we have been up to.
Primary 1 were so lucky to have some visitors to help us learn more about 'People Who Help Us'.
Ailie's dad showed us some amazing technology which allowed you to see inside of a body.
Lauren's mum is an occupational therapist who taught us about her job. She brought some really interesting equipment which helps people to live at home independently.
We also had a visit from Faith's Firefighter friend who let us try on his huge uniform and told us all about his job.
Grayson's mum, who is an advanced nurse practitioner, showed us lots of amazing equipment and uniforms.
Thank you so much to our special visitors. We learned so much from our visitors and really enjoyed the experience.
Eesa's mum, who is an RME teacher from another school, was kind enough to come into Primary 1 to teach us about lots of different world religions. She brought in some beautiful and interesting items for us to explore. She even helped us to relax by meditating with us.
Mrs Annand runs Ferryhill Book Club on Thursday after school for Primary 6 and 7 children. They are currently reading 'The Colour of Hope' by Ross McKenzie. So far their focus has been on developing their metalinguistic and visualisation skills. The children love attending book club and it is definitely Mrs Annand's favourite part of the week.
At the end of term, we said a sad farewell to Mrs Hyland our fabulous School Administrator. Mrs Hyland has been Ferryhill School's Administrator for 28 and a half years. We would all love to wish Mrs Hyland a very long and happy retirement and to thank her for all of her hard work through the years. She will be missed at Ferryhill, the end of an era for sure!
Some children from Primary 7 took part in the annual Albyn Maths Challenge. Our pupils were mixed into teams with other children from schools across the city. Our children were in the teams that came first and third. Congratulations! We are so proud of how well you have represented Ferryhill School.
Our nursery children were very excited to help the builders to get ready to build our new nursery. The nursery children came out to the field and helped to move our outdoor learning resources to another part of the field. The builders appreciated the help and the children were so excited to be an important part of the build project!
Some children from nursery visited the Cowdray Club to try and help spread some Christmas cheer! The residents loved listening to our caroles and even joined in with some songs! What a lovely afternoon out and about in the community.
The staff and pupils would like to thank the Ferryhill Fundraising Committee for providing funds to help us improve our PE resources. Mrs Temple was able to buy large class sets of different types of balls to help staff differentiate PE lessons.
Please see poster regarding upcoming lost property sessions in the playground.

Keep in mind that visits for Mrs Claus are restricted to 20x children at a time, so be sure to sign up ASAP. (This is included in the event entry price). A link will be shared on Google Classroom to sign up for this activity.
Without volunteers, we will not be able to provide all of the advertised activities. Please consider helping - slots have been created so that everyone can enjoy at least half of the fair, and all are welcome to get involved: https://signup.com/go/ryGqeme
To make this event a success we need your help! Without enough volunteers, we won't be able to provide all the activities we have advertised. Please consider signing up to help, it would make a huge difference. Time slots have been created to ensure volunteers can still enjoy plenty of time at the fair. We would love to have your support Click here to view the sign up sheet and choose a slot that works for you. All volunteers who sign up and complete their time will be entered into a free exclusive raffle, drawn on the day!
Raffle books have been ordered and will be sent home in the coming weeks. Prizes include: a £250 voucher, a restaurant voucher, a gift hamper, a cookie box, and more. If you'd like to donate towards the raffle, or sponsor the cost of something else during the fair, please get in touch: fpfundraisingcommunity@gmail.com. All profits from the event go direct to the school.
During the fair, some of the children will be selling goods at their very own enterprise stalls. To help with this, we would appreciate if you could donate any toys (clean and in working condition) for a pre-loved stall alongside the books already requested. This is the perfect time to clear-out the old and buy something (nearly) new ahead of Christmas, at a lower cost AND it's better for the environment! Book donations can be dropped at the school at any time leading up to the fair. Please bring the toys to the school reception (cleaned and ready to sell) on Friday, 6th December.
Finally, if you have spare Christmas decorations, we'd love to have them so we can make the school look as magical and as festive as possible on the day. If you do, drop them by the school reception at any time up to Friday, 1st December and we will make full use of them (the school is quite large so the more decorations the better!).
If you have any questions, please get in touch via email at fpfundraisingcommunity@gmail.com If you don't already, please follow us on our Facebook page for regular updates as we draw closer to the fair .

Let's make this our best fair yet!
- The Fundraising Team
P6R is excited to host a fundraiser tomorrow (Friday August 30th). We worked hard last year to create, write and publish a book about our very own playground game called ‘Peckers’. ‘Peckers’ has lots of cute and quirky bird characters that we drew and then enhanced with AI, and now we’ll be setting up a stall and inviting everyone in the school to come and buy one of our mystery bags for £1 each. Each mystery bag contains a button badge of one of the characters, but they’re all in sealed mystery bags so even we don’t know what’s inside each one. The only way to find out is to buy one and open it! We have common, uncommon, rare, legendary and mythical button badges to find, each harder to find than the last, and there are only 5 of these mythical badges to find with our favourite pecker, Banana Peck, featured on it! We hope you’ll let your child support our fundraiser by bringing along £1 to try their luck and see which Pecker badge they find.
You will also see us at the school fair on the 6th September.
Ferryhill School Values
We are happy to share our new Ferryhill School Values with you.
Following consultation with pupils, parents and staff, it was felt that our values needed to be updated. Some felt that the old values were repetitive or not relevant to us as a school community. We carefully listened to all ideas and decided upon values which we feel are important, relevant and memorable. These values are used by everyone in school on a daily basis.
We were able to link our school values with our school motto "Positive mind, ambitious and kind"
We have shared with the children that this is what we expect to see from them both inside and outside the school building, we really hope you can see these values both at home and in the community.
Our new values logo was designed by Primary 7 pupils before they left for Secondary School in August.
Ferryhill Class Charters
Each class spent time this week designing their new class charters. Class Charters are an important part of school life at Ferryhill. We use articles from the UNCRC to create our charters to promote children's rights.
💙Class charters create a shared ownership of a new classroom.
💙 Class charters make children's rights real and meaningful for both the adults and the children working in the class.
💙Class charters help us to form strong relationships in class.
💙Class Charters are always agreed by all.
Enjoy looking at our class charters, ask your child which charter is in their class and why they chose the designs they did. We shared them at our week 2 assembly.
