The National PE course has two main parts:
Performance: You’ll learn a wide range of movement and performance skills in physical activities.
You’ll practice using and adapting these skills to perform confidently and safely.
Factors Impacting Performance: You’ll explore how mental, emotional, social, and physical factors affect your performance. You’ll also learn how to plan, track, and evaluate your progress to improve your skills and abilities over time.
The Sport and Recreation course offers hands-on experience in various roles within the sport and recreation industry.
It connects with the community, including local primary schools and sports centres. You’ll assist in planning and delivering activity sessions, creating fitness programs, and managing daily tasks. You’ll learn to carry out safety checks, handle emergencies, and review sessions for improvement.
Gain experience with equipment setup, maintenance, and cleaning, while developing teamwork and communication skills. The course also helps you explore career options, identify required qualifications, and create a career plan, preparing you for work in sports and recreation.
There are both practical and written elements to this course.
Practical Cookery develops cookery skills, food preparation techniques, and time management in hospitality settings.
You’ll learn about safe and hygienic practices, ingredient characteristics, and sustainable sourcing. The course covers planning, preparing, and costing dishes while following recipes and current dietary advice. You’ll enhance thinking skills like remembering, understanding, and applying, along with aspects of numeracy.

The Fashion and Textile Technology course focuses on practical skills and knowledge in fashion and textiles.
You will learn about different fabrics, their properties, and how they are used, as well as explore current fashion trends and what influences people’s clothing choices. You’ll design and make detailed textile items based on specific tasks, using patterns and a variety of sewing techniques.
The course includes presenting and explaining your ideas, choosing materials, and using tools and equipment safely to create high-quality products. It’s hands-on, creative, and ideal for anyone interested in fashion and more creative subjects.
