Work experience is an opportunity for senior pupils to experience what working life is like by completing a short-term placement. When on work experience, every individual is treated like a member of staff and will be given basic tasks. Often participants are given a mentor who they can discuss their progress with.
This has many benefits including building confidence and developing new skills. It also allows pupils to understand what a particular role is like before applying for full time roles or further education in that field.
Work experience is specific to each individuals' needs and can be time consuming to fit into an already busy school life! If you have a role that you are really interested in then you should use your network (family, friends, local businesses) in order to find out more about it.
Once you have an idea of what you would like to do, speak to your parents and Guidance Teacher to find out your next steps.
