Volunteering is when a person spends unpaid time doing something to benefit others. This can be in-school by organising school activities or completing prefecting duties. It can also be done outside of school by helping local charities who support specific causes or assisting with the running of different groups and clubs.
Volunteering is a great thing to be a part of as along with the benefit of helping others, pupils will also gain skills in areas such as teamwork, communication and leadership.
In order to start volunteering you must first decide which organisations you are interesting in and what availability you have. The best place to start is to find out about any organisations that are local to you then pop in to have a chat with them about what time you have free.
