How can you make the best possible choices?
The good news is that it is difficult to go wrong with your S2 into S3 choices. You will continue your learning in each of our curricular areas, and give yourself a broad base for future choices. Consider the following 5 tips:
The subjects you have enjoyed most in S1 and S2 are worth considering. Enjoying a subject will make you more motivated and engaged.
Take a look at your most recent reports. Try to pick the subjects you are achieving the highest CFE Levels in. This is the best indicator of the subjects you will perform best in during your senior phase exam years. And achieving your best possible results is important for your future.
Do you know what your biggest skills are? Do these match the skills needed to be successful in certain subjects? Those would be a good options. Try the Skills Explorer Tool on My World of Work to find out more.
Have you spoken to your class teacher about whether it is a good idea to pick that subject? They can advise you about the best options for you within their faculty.
Discuss at home with parents or other family members. They know you well and help you make any tricky decisions.
Remember - don't pick a subject just because your friend is!
