My name is Melanie Watts and I'm the Speech Therapist at Pittsfield!  I graduated both under grad and grad school from Central Michigan University (Fire up Chips!)

Speech Therapy in the school is designed to help students access the curriculum.  We may work on articulation, language, fluency, or voice.  

Articulation: The way we say sounds

Language: The way we can understand when people speak (receptive language) and how we can get our ideas out (expressive language)

Fluency: Stuttering, how bumpy or smooth is our speech

Voice: The way your voice (pitch, loudness, quality) is produced

Students can receive school-based speech therapy services after an evaluation process to determine if the student requires Speech to access the curriculum.
