1. Overall, what grade do you think you have earned in the class and why?
For my grade in this class I believe I got an A or an A-, I have worked hard to improve and meet the expectations as well as go above and beyond. I’ve answered questions, I have participated, I have worked countless hours on the assignments and tried my best when it came to presentations and have learned so much which I applied to my assignments.
2. What was the best piece of work you did for this class this trimester?
The literary analysis of The 57 Bus, I think that the process at which I analyzed and the conclusions I drew from it were very helpful to my growth in this class, I love going through and explaining the complex relationships of the characters and how the book really shows a class difference, how Sasha’s biggest worry in the world was their gender whereas Richard’s was not dying to a gun, surviving and actually making it through highschool, it shows so much without ever explicitly stating anything. Analyzing that helped me grow a lot.
3. Do you think you regularly used class time effectively, in groups and independently?
I have used my class time effectively, I paid attention, watched the teacher throughout her lectures on what we needed to do, and finished my assignments in a timely manner, when I had nothing to do I either read or worked on other assignments, mainly art. In groups I tried my best to steer the topic in a productive manner, and tried to continue useful conversations when they got off track. I think the open discussions had a lot of potential but the people I was put with didn’t seem to want to use that opportunity. I did what I could to learn and grow. My classmates or the slow pace of the class might’ve held me back, but my independence helped me move forward.
4. Did you read more throughout the trimester and what goals will you continue to work on/set for reading next trimester and in your personal life?
I read in class whenever we were told, I also read even more outside of class, I enjoy reading books and the world they create. In the future I hope to have better discussions with classes, the limited ones we had in this class were never productive and I hope to change that in the future, not just in this class, but social studies, world languages and sciences.
5. Overall, what did you learn in this class? What suggestions do you have for me or to improve English 9B in the future?
I learned about ritorical devices, smilies, hyberboles, nothing overall but specific terms. This trimester has also given me a chance to work through analysing books. I vauled my time here.
In this class I enjoyed the freedom we had with presentations, making the culture boxes and the PSAs was a nice creative way to express myself as well as show what I’ve learned.
I think one thing that could be improved with this class is the amount of lectures, sometimes the teaching style can get very long and I find it hard to concentrate. I find I get more stuff done by getting an overview and working through the problems on my own. I also think about the regulations on the lit. circle groups should’ve been tighter, my group didn’t want to take the opportunities they were given to have a meaningful discussion instead taking the time to make jokes, talk about people behind their back and pretend to do work.
