I've learned how to use semi colons and commas, it was really informative but boring. During this time we've been able to do limited free write, which although nerve wracking and hard, actually produced a good grade, unlike my grammar test.
In English 9A I've also learned about dystopia's as a genre, how to identify them, and the difference between a dystopia and a utopia. I found out very interesting things. Like how, although, dystopia's can only apply to one person or an entire population just based on their own perspective, that dystopia's are a philosophical idea and don't actually have ground in the real world, only in the brain.

Creative writing (Dystopian Naritive)
I learned about writing in general, I think it was important, firstly to give students an opportunity to try creative writing, secondly it helps as a creative out lit, since most of our core classes don't have any out lit. It was helpful for me to understand a dystopia better, and realize that a dystopia doesn't necessarily have to be about a sci-fi place and be fiction, dystopia's are here in our world, not just as theories or what ifs, but something someone has lived through. I think this story shows the difference between what is deemed safe and happy by people, just because you have a roof over your head and food on a table doesn't mean you are safe.
It showed the struggles of a family, who didn't want to be whole. A family not built upon unconditional love and mutual relationships, but upon an ever uphill climb to a place you could call safe.
The child longs to be in a safe place, far from what its mother deems safe. The only place is outside, it showed separation of nature, by having the child stare out the window, ever longing to leave

Research: Inform/Explain (Upfront Magazine Article)
It was an important time to learn how to research using the schools database while also connecting what we learned in class to the real world.
I also learned things about writing articles, and maintaining a balance between informing and providing information without forming an argument. As well as learning how to site in MLA format and maintaining a 3rd person perspective.
It was fun peer reviewing, I got to edit other people writing instead of my own, which is superior.
