POEM REFLECTION
My favorite poem was the haiku poem because I got to write about my friends and it wasn’t as serious as the others.
The aspect I found most challenging was rhyming, it was really hard to come up with sensible sentences. The only way i overcame it was by writing out the word and finding words that rhymed with it, making a long list.
By studying a variety of poetry styles I found that poetry wasn’t just one style or it had to be in a certain format, it could be in songs, writing or spoken out loud, it could have strict boundaries with syllables and rhyming or it could just be a poem written from the heart.

TEDTALK EXPERIENCE
I chose “Problems in Women’s Healthcare”, because me and so many other women I know, struggle with and are hurt by our system and the amount of men and people in general who never realized because we never spoke up.
Throughout writing the TedTalk I surprised myself with just how bad our system was, sure i knew some of it, but the roots of the corrupt patriarchy were way deeper than i ever imagined.
While delivering my TedTalk, I found it was helpful to pace when i was changing slides or topics, as well as staring out into the audience even if i was looking at one person in particular.

BOOK CLUB MEMOIRS REFLECTION
Our memoir was about a 12 year old surviving and escaping north Korea. It gave me insight into different cultures, and how cruel some governments can be, especially the governments that just stood by and didn’t do anything.
While discussing with my book club group I got different view points and ideas about the book. They loved to comment on communism and socialism and how that relates to the book.
I connected to the book through the aspect of surviving, never actually living just trying to get by, one day at a time and watching a those around you either and die.
FEEDBACK AND IMPROVEMENT
While I was practicing presenting to some of my peers, one of them told me to use more emphasis, to put more emotion in because it sounded like I was really passionate about my topic. We discussed further and it really helped me remember what to say during my TedTalk and next time I present I’ll speak with emotion and conviction.
The skills I improved the most on were probably my skill to research and develop an essay, the way Ms. Eaton set up and structured the research projects was incredibly helpful and honestly changed my life with how much easier it was.
LOOKING FORWARD
I will definitely use Ms. Eatons essay/researching format to improve my future essays!
Honestly, I don’t like reading nor writing much, so i don’t have much in the ways of goals, but since joining Ms. Eaton’s class, I’ve drastically improved in reading (I double my reading speed and the amount of books I’m reading) and right now that’s enough for me.
