Using search and filters

Search syntax

Use the search box in the top menubar at any time to start your search, then apply filters to enhance your results. Click the search button again to reset any filters and start over.

If you list terms within parentheses ( ) there is an implied OR between them. Otherwise, there is an implied AND between terms. Use double quotes " " when your search term includes spaces.

• (Sydney stock) AND credit:aapimage is the same as (Sydney AND credit:aapimage) OR (stock AND credit:aapimage)
• Sydney stock AND credit:aapimage is the same as (Sydney AND stock AND credit:aapimage)
• "Sydney stock" AND credit:aapimage to specify terms with spaces

Use filters to refine your search results:

• Keyword – including (AND), expanding (OR), or excluding (NOT)
• Media Type – images, video, flat graphics or interactive graphics
• Orientation – landscape, portrait or square
• Credit – source
• Date – when the item was imported to AAP Photos
• Date Range – custom date range to specify created date (in asset file) or date imported to AAP Photos
• Location – city or other listed locality

If you are a subscriber, use the menu at the top of the right sidebar to show only your included Subscriber Content or All Content matching your search.

Wildcard

Use an asterisk * within a string to find word variations:

• *fence will find assets with metadata including fence, offence, defence
• Oscar* will find Oscar and Oscars

Additional metadata

Search within metadata using the tag name followed by colon : and the search term (without spaces).

• credit:aapimage OR credit:"pr image"
• supplementalcategory:premium
• credit:"aap video"

Gallery and search results

Items in search results are ordered by the date they were imported to AAP Photos.

You can change the number of thumbnails displayed per page: 25 (default), 50 or 100. This is remembered for the rest of your session.

Thumbnails

Hover over a thumbnail to see the asset name, submission date and photographer, and action buttons. Click to open a detail view displaying metadata.

Detail view

Click the detail image to display a larger image or preview a video. If permitted, detail view show a Download menu. Subscribers can click the View Quotas button to review monthly download status.

Download

Hover over a thumbnail to download the original asset in one click (if permitted), or click the image to reveal a Download menu with various file options.

Add to Lightbox

Add an asset to the active lightbox, or create a new lightbox on-the-fly. Change the active lightbox at the top of the results screen.
