Cold Water Entry Steps

Wearing a life jacket increases your survival rate by keeping you afloat and insulting your body even if you are unconscious. Your survival in cold water depends on water temperature, your floatation device and how soon you can get to a warmer place. Inflating a shirt should only be used as a last resort. This skill takes practice. Remember open water isn't a nice consistent 80 degrees with no waves. There is not a better replacement for a life jacket when you are on the water.
