The Canvas Training Services Portal is a learning hub for teachers and school staff. You can find it by clicking “Help” in the Canvas menu. The portal offers self-paced courses and live webinars designed to help you learn tips, tools, and best practices for using Canvas effectively with your students.
To get started with training courses:
Log into Canvas.
Select Help (in Global Navigation).
Select Training Services Portal.
Authorize your account.
Browse and enroll in self-paced courses or live webinars.
Note: After selecting the Training Services Portal, a new tab will open requesting you authorize your account. The Training Portal is a separate environment from our AACPS Canvas environment.
Although there are many courses and topics to explore, professional development points can only be earned by completing the pathways listed below. For more information on enrolling in a pathway, follow the steps in the Canvas Pathway Opportunity Flyer.
K12 - First Day Ready Learning Pathway
Discover how to be First Day Ready by understanding all the essential features of Canvas.

K12 - Opening Canvas: Learn to configure Notification Preferences, use Dashboard, and access the Calendar and Inbox.
K12 - Creating a Canvas Course: This course will walk you through creating a Canvas LMS course so you can prepare for the first day. In addition, this course will cover creating a Home Page, utilizing modules, and accessing student view to ensure your course is "first day ready."
K12 - Getting Started with Assignments and Assessments: This training course goes over how to build Assignments and assessments in your Canvas course. The course also details how to access Student View, where you can participate in your course from the perspective of your students.
K12 - Grading and Feedback: In this training, you will learn how to use the Canvas Gradebook and SpeedGrader. You will learn how to give student feedback through SpeedGrader and grade assignments through the use of rubrics.
Course Design and Accessibility Learning Pathway
Utilizing best practices in course design and evaluation, examine how to engage all learners.

Canvas Course Evaluations & Accessibility: This Canvas training course provides you with tools and strategies to help ensure that you are meeting the needs of all learners, no matter the modality or need, as we design course content in Canvas.
Engaging Learners: Learn how to better engage and motivate learners by utilizing a variety of tools in Canvas.
Canvas + Google Integration Learning Pathway
Learn how to use the new Google Assignments tool to build engaging content for students.

Overview of Google Assignments LTI 1.3: This course will check Google Assignments LTI 1.3 installation, provide an overview of Google Assignments, compare Google Assignments and Google Apps LTIs, and will showcase accessibility with screen readers with Google Assignments.
Embedding Content Using Google Drive LTI 1.3: This course will showcase adding content from your Google Drive into Canvas Modules and the Rich Content Editor.
Creating Canvas Assignments with Google Assignments: This course will demonstrate how to use Google Assignments LTI 1.3 to create assignments where students can submit files from their Google Drive as well as provide each student with a template that they can fill out and submit to the instructor.
Providing Feedback with Google Assignments: This course will walk through the process of providing feedback on a Google Assignment LTI 1.3 and a File Upload from Google Drive LTI 1.3. This course is best for users with courses that have student submissions to both File Upload Assignments and Google Assignments.
Canvas + Microsoft Office Integration Learning Pathway
Learn how to use the new Google Assignments tool to build engaging content for students.

Overview of Office 365 Integration: This course will walk through the Office 365 integration and how it creates a one-stop shop for learning in Canvas.
Embedding and Linking Content with Office 365: This course will walk through adding content from your Microsoft Microsoft Office 365 files into Modules and Rich Content Editor.
Creating Canvas Assignments with Office 365: This course will walk through the creation of assignments where students can submit files from their OneDrive, and also the creation of Office 365 Cloud Assignments, which provide each student with a template that they can then fill out and submit to the instructor.
Collaborations Using Microsoft Office 365: This course will walk through the Collaborations function, to seamlessly create documents and files that students can collaborate on.
Feedback with Office 365 Assignments: This course will walk through how to provide feedback on assignments that leverage Microsoft Office Integration.
Exploring Canvas for Elementary (Course Only)
This course is designed to introduce you to the features and functionalities of Canvas for Elementary. Throughout this training, we will delve into the intricacies of Canvas for Elementary, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of its capabilities and benefits. Whether you are a seasoned educator or a newcomer, this course will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate Canvas for Elementary effectively. This course provides the opportunity to experience Canvas for Elementary from the perspective of a teacher, student, and observer to help deepen your understanding of the tool.
