For K–12 students, YouTube can be a powerful educational tool. Teachers can use it to supplement lessons with engaging visual content such as science experiments, historical documentaries, math tutorials, and educational songs. With proper guidance and content curation, YouTube helps make learning more interactive, accessible, and enjoyable for students of all ages.
*In AACPS, YouTube videos should be embedded into other platforms such as Canvas, Nearpod, and Wixie for secure student access. YouTube can NOT be accessed independently by elementary or middle school students.
Students curate (select and evaluate) a variety of digital resources to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts to make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others.
Since 2020, per YouTube's terms, children 13 and under can no longer use the service.
Requests to have instructional videos unblocked will be sent to the appropriate content coordinator for approval.
Embedding a blocked video will still result in the video being blocked for students.
