State-Based Testing (MCAP)
Required for Graduation
AACPS students take the following Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) tests aligned with Maryland College and Career Ready Standards (MCCRS):
Algebra 1
English 10
U.S. Government
MISA Science (Maryland Integrated Science Assessment)
🕒 MCAP assessments are scheduled for Quarter 4 (typically early May). Each test begins at 8:30 AM, and students must bring their fully charged AACPS-issued device. Students without their device may not be able to test.
May 5: MCAP Government (students in a Government course)
May 6–7: MCAP English 10 (students in an English 10 course)
May 12: MISA Science (students in a Biology course)
May 13: MCAP Algebra 1 (students in an Algebra 1 course)
🚌 Students not testing in the morning will arrive ~3.5 hours later on a second bus run. The school will operate on a modified schedule, dismissing at 3:18 PM.
Scoring Impact
Students in the Class of 2027 and beyond:
Government and MISA Science scores count as 20% of the year-long course grade.
📝 If a student took a Government or Biology course outside of a Maryland public school, they may be exempt. Please get in touch with your School Counselor or Testing Coordinator for clarification.
