This was a decade of great change for the city of Wyoming. 28th Street begins to age after half a centruy as the retail destination in West Michigan. The Auto industry slows to a crawl and some factories close. Financial hardships develop throught the State and Wyoming experiences it's first big wave of unemployment and families moving out of State or out of "the city". A few students on free or reduced lunch begins to be common at the High School. The football program shows signs of slippage but the basketball program builds upon the 1989 Regional Championship to become, once again, a high school basketball power.
