QUICK FACTS:
WYOMING PARK HIGH SCHOOL (1938-2012) was located at 2125 Wrenwood, Wyoming MI 49519-2362
Enrollment had grown to 700 in the 1960's and has been between 750-850 since 1968. The area is landlocked and can no longer experience significant growth.
The Park had been "Class B" since the 1960's (between the 50th and 75th percentile of school enrollment in Michigan)
"The Park" is the southwest corner of the city of Wyoming. Wyoming is the southwest suburb of Grand Rapids Michigan.
The Park became a High School in 1938 as a spin- off of Grandville High School graduating its first class in 1939 (defeating the rival Bulldogs and winning its first basketball championship that same year). The Grandville and Wyoming Park rivalry had been historic until Grandville's farms became housing developments and Grandville High School grew into a large Class A school in the early 2000's.
The Park was a full service high school and has been traditionally strong in academics, the arts, and athletics.
On March 12, 2012 the school board voted 4-3 to consolidate Wyoming Park High School and Wyoming Rogers High School. The consolidation will begin in the fall of 2012. The Wyoming High School will be 10th through 12th grade and The Wyoming Junior High will consist of 7th through 9th graders.
