In order for students to enjoy skiing and riding, it is vital that they are appropriately dressed. The weather on the mountain can vary from the weather at school and students will be outside longer than they usually are during gym class.
Ski or snowboard jacket (water-resistant)
Ski or snowboard pants (water-resistant)
Helmet (REQUIRED)
Goggles
Insulated gloves or mittens
Balaclava or neck gaiter/buff
It's always a great idea to put a small snack or two in a pocket.
Long underwear (wool or synthetic that wicks; not cotton)
Ski or snowboard socks (wool or synthetic; not cotton)
Fleece
Additional layers depending on your student's comfort (such as an insulated vest or puffy layer)
Dressing for snowshoeing is different than dressing for skiing and snowboarding because you are actively moving. It is important to dress in layers and to be prepared for various weather conditions. As students get warm, they will often tie their jacket around their waist to release excess heat.
Water-resistant boots that lace (hiking-style boots are best; Bogs-style boots are not recommended as it is difficult to keep your foot from sliding around)
Base layer (wool or synthetic that wicks; not cotton)
Fleece
Winter jacket
Wool or synthetic socks (not cotton)
Snow pants
Insulated gloves or mittens
Hat
Neck gaiter or buff
Googles or sunglasses (if there is blowing snow, these will be helpful)
Snacks - It's always a great idea to put a small snack or two in a pocket.
If your student needs a helmet, jacket, winter pants, gloves, or any other warm winter gear, please let Jen Durren (co-principal) know. We want to make sure each student is appropriately dressed so they can enjoy what winter has to offer!
THIS PROGRAM SUPPORTS ALL STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF THEIR ABILITY TO PAY FOR GEAR.
