Dear Mayo Families,
I am thrilled to be your child’s kindergarten teacher this year! In the fall of 2015, I had the privilege of joining the kindergarten team at Mayo Elementary. This is my 15th year in the Wachusett Regional School District, transitioning here from the Early Childhood Center. Mayo Elementary has always been a special place of learning for my own family. My two daughters developed a love for learning and exploration in these very classrooms!
I completed my undergraduate degree at Lesley University with a focus on human development and early childhood education and received my Master’s degree from American International College with a concentration in special education. In December 2014, I completed the Orton-Gillingham reading certification program offered within our school district. My ongoing training, teaching experience, and licensure as an early childhood/special education teacher has prepared me well to engage your child in an exciting year of learning.
All students enter their school experience with varied academic and social skills. My goal is to provide a learning environment so that each child is successful and proud of their many accomplishments. As parents, you are your child’s most important teacher and supporter.
I look forward to working with you during this exciting year of learning! I encourage you to be in touch with me regarding any questions or concerns about your child's learning and emotional well being.
Regards,
Maura McSweeney
