Social/Friendship Skills

Our  Choose To Be Nice social curriculum will help students learn to successfully identify and manage their emotions, work cooperatively with their peers, problem solve using learned strategies, and foster friendships that promote understanding, kindness, and respect.  Social strategies and concepts will be targeted through stories, social activities, and explicit learning experiences.  Working together we will be working to create classroom rules that promote a safe and happy learning environment for all students.  Our Scholastic Magazine is a wonderful addition to our classroom.  An online component offers videos and additional learning activities.  Please take the opportunity to enjoy the magazine with your child when they bring it home.   

We have been working together to create our classroom rules. Students have made their Paw Promise to do their best to follow our Classroom Rules.

Social Studies:

Every Monday students participate in Weekend News; students share something they did over the weekend with their family.  We will celebrate our students many strengths, celebrate our differences, and explore our common interests. 

Let's Find Out has helped us explore our school community and learn about kindness. We are learning about our new friends in KM.

Science:

Through non-fiction literature and engaging hands-on activities, we are exploring and gaining an understanding of weather patterns. This is a year-long learning focus as we move through our seasons.  We will explore the many changes that happen during the fall season and how animals change the environment around them.  Our five senses help us discover the world around us.

We are learning about patterns and temperature with our weather observations. We have been reading stories and noticing how our season is getting ready to change from summer to fall. We had fun making our Summer Tree!
