Clinical History
HPI: 32 year old female with low back pain who now presents with saddle anesthesia.
Questions
1. What is your clinical differential diagnosis?
You should be worried about a process that causes compression of S3-S5 or cauda equina syndrome. (See the table below on deficits associated with specific nerve roots.) This can be caused by a variety of etiologies including a herniated disk, tumor, trauma etc.
