Fine Arts Courses

Open to all students, these traditional Fine Arts Courses are each .5 credits. Here you can explore traditional art materials and techniques that will help you interpret your world.

Learn to Draw, Paint & Compose in this course designed to introduce you to what the art department has to offer.


Come learn to draw! These classes are designed for all students to develop skills in observational drawing, the foundation of all art areas.


(Requires Drawing 1 as a Prerequisite) Explore color and technique through various painting media in order to develop your voice as an artist.


Open to Juniors or Seniors, this advanced drawing course strengthens your skills and develops portfolio pieces as you earn college credits through our UCONN ECE program.


Open to Seniors who have successfully completed Pre-AP Art, here you can find your voice as an artist and use it to investigate issues you want to bring attention to. You will develop a collection of artwork that serves as a visual essay presented at your senior show, in addition to earning 3 college credits.

STEM Arts Courses

Open to all students, these 21st Century Art classes earn you .5 credits each. Here you can explore the exciting world of digital technology, design and engineering through the lens of a creative artist.


Work in metals, acrylic & wood as you learn to design, manufacture and finish jewelry pieces using traditional & digital tools.


Consider the role of structural engineering in the design of artwork as we solve creative problems.


Learn how clay has served as a major area of technology for centuries as you use it to create innovative responses to contemporary design challenges.


(Requires 1.0 Fine Arts in Drawing or Painting as a Prerequisite) Open to Juniors, this course introduces photography and digital design as students prepare portfolios for AP Studio Art.
