Work in metals, acrylic & wood as you learn to design, manufacture and finish jewelry pieces using traditional & digital tools. The Jewelry Design program at Windsor High School is taught in our metalsmithing studio where students learn to pierce, cut, hammer, forge, anneal, solder and polish metal. In addition to these traditional methods, students in Jewelry Design 1 are introduced to the role of CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) in production jewelry and have an opportunity to laser print one of their designs in our FAB lab. Students wishing to continue in this area can take Jewelry Design 2 which introduces more advanced metalworking techniques, including stone setting, and has students return to the FAB lab to 3D print one of their designs. Students wishing to pursue developing a portfolio in Jewelry Work can continue in Pre-AP Art and AP Studio Art where they will submit a portfolio of their jewelry work to the AP Art exam in order to earn college credit.
