Second Grade

Dear Second Grader,

Welcome to our classroom! I am very excited to be your 2nd grade teacher this year! I am so glad that you are in our class because I know that we are going to have a fantastic year!

I hope that you enjoyed your summer! I can’t wait to hear about all of the fun things that you did over the summer break. My family went to both Disney World and Disneyland this summer.  We had so much fun!

We have so many exciting things planned for school this year. Our days will be filled with reading, writing, and phonics workshops.  In Math, we’ll learn about borrowing, regrouping, time, money, and geometry.  We’ll learn about the history of Wilmette and transportation in Social Studies, and the world around us, including animals, plants, and water in Science.  I love our 2nd grade curriculum and I know that you will too!

I can’t wait to see you on Weds. August 23 for the first half day of school! Please bring your school supplies.  If your grown up ordered a school supply box, it will be waiting in our classroom for you.  Also, we'll dismiss at 11:55 am that day, so please make a plan of where to meet your grown up.  We'll dismiss from the front of the school.  

Don’t forget to bring a healthy snack and a reusable water bottle every day (and on the 1st day too!) Most importantly, bring your smiles, singing voices, and positive energy!
