HI! My name is Fran Engstrom. This will be my twenty-seventh year teaching and my 24th year in Wilmette. I taught both Early Childhood and Kindergarten at Romona, and am excited to be teaching 2nd grade again this year at Central. I received my B.A. in Early Childhood and Spanish from Bradley University, a Masters in Special Education from St. Xavier University, and a Masters of Arts in School Leadership from Concordia University. I am a happy teacher and love to bring my background, personality, and heart into the classroom.
My parents were born in Italy, and I didn't learn to speak English until I went to Kindergarten. I speak Italian and Spanish fluently. I have also taken many classes to learn Sign Language. I have 4 brothers, and we all live somewhere in the midwest. My mom still lives in my childhood home in Chicago, right by Comiskey Park (Yes, it is will always be called Comiskey and yes, I still cheer for the White Sox!).
I have been married to Kenny for 24 years. We met my first weekend in college. He is a Chemist for Abbvie.
I love being a mom to my four beautiful daughters: Talia, who is attending Saint Louis University, studying Voice and Communications, Giana, who will be a junior at Libertyville HS, and our identical twin girls, Stella and Lucia, who will be starting 7th grade. Our house is full of laughter and love, and is very busy!
In our happy place--Magic Kingdom, Disney World
I enjoy singing, going to see musicals, getting manicures and pedicures, reading People magazine, and drinking vanilla lattes. I also love all things Disney--it's my favorite place to take a vacation.
