Leprechaun Traps
We worked with our buddies, Mrs. Voss’ 3rd graders, to create a fun STEAM activity--leprechaun traps. We met last week to view a slide show with helpful hints for designing our leprechaun traps and to create blue prints. Then on Wednesday, we met once again to build the traps using many materials, including Irish Spring soap, toothpaste, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, glittered rocks, coins, foil, colored tape, and so much more! The best part is that there was no right way to catch a leprechaun and every trap was unique!

Field Trip to The Grove in Glenview
Thank you to PTA/Ignite for our wonderful field trip to The Grove in Glenview. We learned all about the Potawatomi--the Native American tribe, who was indigenous to that area. We played games, learned about their homes, food, and families. Thank you also to James' mom, Molly, and William C's mom, Kim, who joined us this morning. The Grove is open year round, so if you haven't been, I'd highly recommend a visit!

A 3 Act Task is a whole group math activity that is split into 3 parts-a question/video act 1, an information giving and solution seeking act 2, and a solution in act 3. In Science, we have been learning about properties of matter. We know that matter is anything around us that has weight and takes up spaces. We tied that in with some engineering principles and made popsicle stick bridges. Then we tested them with a lego car and talked about what we would do differently to make them stronger.
