Birthdays
We love to celebrate birthdays! Please contact me at least 2 weeks before your child's birthday. Grown ups are welcome to read a special book to the class, and we would love it if you donated a book to our classroom library. We love to ask questions about the day that the birthday child was born and see baby pictures too. Our class will also make a special birthday book keepsake for the birthday child.
Snack Time
We will have time for snack time every day. If your child would like to bring a snack, only fruits and vegetables are allowed. Don't forget a water bottle too!
Progress Reports and Conferences
2nd grade follows the district progress reporting schedule. We will have parent/teacher conferences in November and March. Progress reports will be sent home in February and June.
Mystery Reader
A Mystery Reader is a parent, relative, neighbor, friend, etc. who comes into the room as a surprise to the children to read a story. Please bring a special book to read. We will all chant "mystery reader" as you come into the classroom/appear on the screen! The children love to see who the mystery reader is!
Star of the Week
Each child will be picked to be the star of the week. We will be looking for each child to make good choices, help a friend, etc. and will be nominated by peers. On Friday, the new Star will be announced and will take home a poster to complete and bring back on Monday. We will talk about the poster and any extra pictures that are sent in. On Wednesday, the Star will bring in a special show and tell object. On Friday, the Star will bring in a special book to read to the class.
