BUILDING
The North Science Center project has reached the end of the excavation and blasting phase and have begun foundation work. The first mud slabs were poured in the excavation off Hoxsey Street the week of Martin Luther King Day and waterproofing of the area will begin this week to prepare the excavation for the pouring of wall segments. The police station project, new Williams Inn, and new Garfield Dormitory projects continue to progress on schedule with few issues. The extreme cold over the MLK weekend did cause some issues in town, most notably a sprinkler system freeze up and burst piping at the Howard Johnson's Ryan Contenta and Chief Peddercini collaborated on the response and the issue is being fixed. The Fairfiled Inn at 430 Main Street now has a new construction management team but does remain behind schedule.
HEALTH

The hoped for result is a consolidated easy to navigate trail system similar to a WRLF / Conservation Commission led effort on Stone Hill a few years ago. The Planning Board held a forum to discuss a proposal to allow more accessory dwelling units in Williamstown. Chris Kluchman from the State's Housing Choice Program attended to give folks an idea of whats happening in housing policy at the state level. The Planning Board meets again on February 12.
