Post date: Feb 22, 2018 7:43:19 PM

Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation (BTCF) and 1Berkshire invite you to join us on Thursday, March 8 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. to discuss the findings of a new analysis of the investment landscape for business and community development in Berkshire County. We will be meeting at 1Berkshire’s Central Station (66 Allen Street, Pittsfield) in the second floor conference room.

The findings in this report will be guiding BTCF and 1Berkshire in better understanding the role of philanthropy and investment in supporting economic and community development, and we want your input as economic development practitioners.

The study, made possible through the support and involvement of our generous funding partners listed below, assessed the current supply and demand for investment capital in Pittsfield and Berkshire County. Next Street Capital, a national firm that works with government agencies and foundations, conducted the study. This firm is focused on analytical support, advice and capital solutions to help bolster local economies and will be presenting the findings on March 8.

The presentation will provide a perspective on the spectrum of capital providers (e.g., debt, equity, government) and investment flows, highlighting gaps relative to known needs in Pittsfield and Berkshire County. The study also looked at the capital needs of local business and community development, and mapped the economic development organizations that support entrepreneurs and developers, through a combination of market research and stakeholder interviews.

The report includes recommendations for ways to address the opportunities and gaps identified by Next Street during their research and outreach. The discussion on March 8 will focus on potential ways to build off the strengths of existing work and address identified gaps by leveraging private, public and philanthropic resources. Copies of the report will be available.

Please respond back if you’d like to join this discussion.

Hope to see you on March 8,

Peter Taylor
