100 beginner riffs

Click "here" to see all the music that is in the 100 riffs video. Simply navigate to the correct page and you will find the tab.

At the bottom of the page are some of the songs we have played in class. Feel free to download the file or just open it up. Most of the melodies are just the popular part of the song. Some melodies have been simplified and may not sound right when played along with the song. Make sure you tune your guitar before you play.

Time to Improvise

Directly below is an mp3 player so that you can improvise along with the songs. Click on the picture below and it will bring you to the playlist.

Improvisation. Make up a melody using any of the space numbers. The songs are in the playlist above. They all sound good with the song. Keep it simple. Just play a couple of the numbers then add more. The number in blue is the root note (melody feels like it's home) so play it a lot. You don't have to play them in order, mix them up. See if you can figure out some melodies in the song. Try and use some rhythms that you hear in the song. Obviously, make sure your guitar is in tune before you play with the song. Tuner is below.

Song going too fast?

If you want to play along with music, I recommend downloading a program that slows the song down so it's manageable. I use "Amazing Slowdowner".

You can also slow the song down using this website, click on the image below. Just simply upload an mp3 or wav file and change the speed.

Tuners

I use this tuner to tune my guitar. Very easy to use. You can download the program here.

Below are what letters the string numbers should be:

6=E, 5=A, 4=D, 3=G, 2=B, 1=E

You can also use free tuners online like:http://truefire.com/guitar-tuner/
