small moments, using literary language techniques from author Jane Yolen's mentor text: Owl Moon, stretching out small moments/ zooming in, powerful endings, revise with intent, powerful craft moves, powerful words
Writing about Reading (Opinion Writing):
letters about characters, getting writing energy by talking, new opinions by looking at pictures, retelling important parts (from more than 1 part), talk directly to audience, evidence to support opinions, nominations for book awards, adding quotes (lift-a-lines) to support opinions/reasons, importance of punctuation as signposts for readers, intros/conclusions: award name, questions, title & author, quotes, suggestions, and pop-out words can make them more interesting
Guide for Nonfiction Writing (Informational Writing)
organize info, notes to writing chapters, transition words, twin/triplet sentences, comparisons/ connections to say more, leads/hooks, conclusions
