English Language Learners - In anticipation of an increased ELL population due to an increase in Hispanic workers in the area, West Holt created an official ELL position on a half-time basis. The population of ELL students has increased over the last three years. Although the percentage is not a large difference we have also gained students thus making the percentages level off. We currently have 13 students in the ELL program or about 7% of the student population.
Free or Reduced Lunch - The district's Free and Reduced Lunch statistics have fluctuated over the past few years. Some of this is due to a change in a staff member who manages the applications and has increased the public's knowledge of the importance of completing applications. This has led to an increase in applications returned.
High Ability Learners - West Holt does not have an HAL program.
Special Education - West Holt has consistently remained between 11% and 14% of students who qualify for special education. Although the percentages are consistent, the number of students qualifying for services in our Special Education Department has increased. In 2015, construction was completed on an addition that included four classrooms, two offices and a restroom. This addition houses a high needs functional skills classroom as well as a life skills room. This has allowed the school district to serve these students at West Holt, rather than transporting them to a special education attendance center outside of our community.
