What is RTI/SST?
RTI stands for Response to Intervention. SST stands for Student Support Team. They are the same thing with different names. It is a process that monitors and tracks student achievement to ensure appropriate instructional practices are meeting students instructional needs. It is important to note that a quality RTI/SST is no place for egos. In its rawest since, an RTI/SST process focuses on what the teacher can do better/differently to meet the needs of the student. This requires that all parties involved work collaboratively and respectfully to improve each others instructional practices. Everything from content, instructional modalities, assessment opportunities, classroom management and physical environment are all examined on an individualized customizable level. When it's done right the RTI/SST process is the most valuable component to increase achievement for all students.
I think we are required by the teaching police to have a visual graphic shaped like a pyramid whenever talking about RTI/SST. All the ones I could find on Google Images were terrible so I made my own.
