Private Secondary Applications

The School Counseling Department at Wellesley High School helps families expedite the private school process by emailing transcripts to private schools.

In order to begin the process, two forms must be completed. The release form should be emailed to the School Counseling secretary, Lucretia Burns at burnsl@wellesleyps.org. The student activity form should be emailed to the School Counselor. These forms should be submitted a minimum of two weeks in advance of private school deadlines.

Private school emails

Important information about our process:

  • Teachers and counselors need a minimum of two weeks prior to the deadline to complete recommendations. Please make both aware that you are applying, which application platform you are using, and when they can expect the email from that platform.

  • Teacher and School Counselor recommendations should be facilitated through an electronic invitation from the private school's chosen application platform (Ravenna, Gateway, Boston Shared Forms), or from the private schools directly.

  • Students need to provide their own writing samples to private schools, if required. English teachers should not be asked to retrieve samples or provide feedback or editing on samples. Parent or guardian should encourage student to save samples prior to application process, or retrieve previous samples.

  • Semester 1 grades will be sent as soon as they are available, typically early February.

Deadlines and vacations:

  • Most private schools have a January 15th deadline. Due to December vacation, the release form needs to be submitted to the School Counseling secretary, Ms Burns, no later than December 12th.

  • Members of the School Counseling office (secretary, school counselor, department head) will not forward requests to teachers or counselors to write recommendations during any school vacation or summer break.

Questions should be directed to Lucretia Burns, School Counseling secretary at 781-446-6290, or via email as referenced above.
