Highlights of our week include:
Our first grade writers have moved on from Information Writing to Persuasive Writing. Students are learning to write their opinion and support their opinion with lots of readons. Our writers give details and examples for each reason. They also learn to develop a "counterargument" - talking back to the reasons given by someone with the opposite opinion.Â
1K readers have also transitioned from a focus on nonfiction writing back to fiction. Over the next several weeks, we will be digging deep into character traits. Readers are looking for clues in their reading to know what the character is like on the inside and noticing if characters change over time. We will also learn to look for important life lessons that could apply to ourselves when we read our stories.
A quick reminder - in the event of snow - boots and snowpants are required for children who want to play in the snow !
