Current Events
Current Events
"Current Events" happens every Friday in 4M. Three students report on the
different categories of news: International (outside of the U.S. - for our
purposes in 4M), National (something that takes place "inside" of the U.S.,
but not MA), and Local (something that takes place in MA). Students will need
assistance choosing appropriate news items, particularly the International
News. They may also need help reviewing the article so they are ready to share
it on Friday. Students choose an article, read it, cut or print it out, write
up a pre-organized sheet about the article, rehearse their sharing, and bring
in the article with the write up on Friday. Students have all week to work on
these events and they are hung on the board for others to read. The Current
Event gets passed back the following week. Each student reports on Current
Events approximately 6 times during the year (2 International News items, 2
National News items, 2 Local News items). Below are some links to help you if
you can't find anything in the newspaper. The first link is a "pretend" link
so that I could add this "explanation information". The four links after that
- White House for Kids, NGS, Time for Kids, and Social Studies for Kids will be
useful. Feel free to email me other useful websites you find. (Reminder: Make
sure to print out the article if you choose a web article.) Thanks so much.
