The Task
Build a 3-dimensional model of a cell that illustrates all of the basic parts of the cell without spending any money. Be creative! Look around your house, your yard, the park, a friend’s house, etc. Ideally, you would construct the model at home. However, there will be one construction day October 31, 2024 if you need glue to assemble.
Your cell model should have the following characteristics:
q Be a typical plant or animal cell – this is your choice
q Show the 3-D nature of cells
q Include the following organelles
Either cell type = cell membrane, nucleus, nucleolus, mitochondria, cytoplasm, Golgi bodies, ribosomes, Endoplasmic Reticulum.
Plant cell = chloroplasts, cell wall, large vacuole
Animal cell = centriole, lysosomes, small vacuoles
q Includes a legend or key that indicates to the viewer what all the required organelles are. They should be named and labeled correctly. Only numbers should be found on the cell. The names of the parts should be on the key.
q Your cell should be accurate, neat, well planned, and creative.
This project is not meant to have you go out and purchase expensive materials to build your cells. Please use inexpensive materials you have at home. Edible projects are allowed!
