Hi! I’m Mrs. Schweihs
I grew up on the beach in Maine, and started playing saxophone in 6th grade. I switched to tenor sax in 7th grade, and have been exploring and collecting various band instruments ever since! I completed my bachelors degree at Northwestern (go Cats!), and Masters at NIU. I started teaching in 1991, and have been teaching 5th grade band in D200 since 1998. (Yea… that is definitely before you were born- haha!). Since 2019, I am also the Assistant Band Director at Woodstock North High School. For 11 years, earlier in my Woodstock career, I was also the pit orchestra director for the High School spring musicals.
I live in Crystal Lake with my husband Mike, my son Nick, and our pup Toby! Much of my spare time is spent playing with a group called “The Hurricane Saxophone Quartet.” And, in the summers, love performing with the Woodstock City Band.
I love everything about teaching beginners, and look forward to sharing my love of “everything BAND” with a new crop of students this year.
I can’t wait to meet you soon!
Feel free to email me any questions might have!
