The South High School Academic Leadership Academy was established in 2010 and works to serve the gifted and talented students of South High, but application is open to all Washington County students through their sophomore year! The academy's purpose is to promote academic excellence for high achieving students.  It includes parents, teachers, and students committed to academic growth. Members agree to take on a rigorous course load during their four years and to participate in leadership development activities.

WCPS Magnet Programs are open to all students residing in Washington County. There is no cost to participate; however, parents/guardians may need to provide transportation if living outside the magnet school attendance area. Selection is based upon a comprehensive review of multiple sources of information, including a student application, academic performance, and teacher recommendations.

School Vision: “All Students will be productive citizens capable of competing in a global society”
